Formuła 2 Sezon 2022 – 28. sezon Formuły 2 organizowanej pod egidą Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile i jednocześnie szósty sezon po drugiej reaktywacji serii. Wszystkie wyścigi mają być imprezami towarzyszącymi wyścigom Formuły 1. Sezon rozpoczął się 19 marca na torze Bahrain International Circuit w Sakhir, a ma zakończyć się 20 listopada na torze Yas Marina Circuit w Abu Zabi. Mistrzem kierowców został Felipe Drugovich, a konstruktorów holenderski zespół MP Motorsport.

Lista startowa

Wszyscy kierowcy korzystać będą z samochodów Dallara F2 2018, wykorzystując sześciocylindrowe turbodoładowane silniki Mecachrome o pojemności 3,4 litra i opony Pirelli.

Zmiany przed sezonem

Zmiany wśród zespołów

Po sezonie 2021 zespół HWA Racelab wycofał się z serii, czyniąc podobny krok w Formule 3. Miejsce niemieckiego zespołu zajęła ekipa Van Amersfoort Racing.

Zmiany wśród kierowców

Logan Sargeant zastąpi Dana Ticktuma w zespole Carlin.
Felipe Drugovich powróci do MP Motorsport, zastępując Jacka Doohana. Australijczyk zaś zastąpi Brazylijczyka w zespole Virtuosi Racing. Partnerem zespołowym australijskiego kierowcy zostanie Marino Satō, zastępując Guanyu Zhou, który będzie startował w Formule 1 jako kierowca Alfy Romeo.
Dennis Hauger dołączy do serii po zdobyciu mistrzostwa w Formule 3 dołączy do Formuły 2 w tym samym zespole co zdobył mistrzostwo - Prema Racing. Jego partnerem będzie przechodzący z zespołu Carlin Jehan Daruvala.
Prema Racing będzie uczestniczyć z nowym składem kierowców. Oscar Piastri został kierowcą rezerwowym Alpine, zaś Robert Szwarcman po dwóch latach ogłosił odejście z serii.
Christian Lundgaard po dwóch sezonach postanowił przenieść się do serii IndyCar Series do zespołu Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing.
Cem Bölükbaşı po sezonie w serii Euroformula Open Championship przeniesie się do Formuły 2 jako kierowca Charouz Racing System.
Calan Williams po dwóch sezonach spędzonych w Formule 3 został kierowcą zespołu Trident.
Liam Lawson przeniesie się z zespołu Hitech Grand Prix do zespołu Carlin zastępując Jehana Daruvalę.
Ayumu Iwasa po roku w Formule 3 awansował do Formuły 2 i będzie startował w zespole DAMS.
Jake Hughes po dwóch niepełnych sezonach w HWA Racelab dołączy do nowego zespołu w Formule 2 - Van Amersfoort Racing. Jego partnerem będzie Amaury Cordeel, awansujący z Formuły 3.
Frederik Vesti po zdobyciu 4. miejsca w poprzednim sezonie Formuły 3 awansuje do Formuły 2 w zespole ART Grand Prix.
Marcus Armstrong przeszedł z zespołu DAMS do Hitech Grand Prix.
Olli Caldwell po zajęciu 8. miejsca w Formule 3 wystąpi w Formule 2 w zespole Campos Racing.
Richard Verschoor przeniósł się do zespołu Trident po sezonie spędzonym w MP Motorsport oraz Charouz Racing System.

Zmiany w trakcie sezonu

Cem Bölükbaşı w wyniku kontuzji odniesionej podczas wyścigu w Jeddah nie mógł wystartować w Imoli. Zastąpił go David Beckmann.
Amaury Cordeel podczas rundy w Baku uzyskał 12 punktów karnych, wobec czego został zawieszony na czas kolejnej rundy na torze Silverstone. Został on zastąpiony przez Davida Beckmanna.
Olli Caldwell podczas rundy w Budapeszcie uzyskał 12 punktów karnych, wobec czego został zawieszony na czas kolejnej rundy na torze Spa-Francorchamps. Zastąpił go Lirim Zendeli.
Tatiana Calderón po rundzie na Hungaroringu zastąpiła Cema Bölükbaşı'ego.
Roy Nissany podczas rundy na Zandvoort uzyskał 12 punktów karnych, wobec czego został zawieszony na czas kolejnej rundy na torze Monza. Zastąpił go Luca Ghiotto.
Zane Maloney i Juan Manuel Correa zastąpili odpowiednio Calana Williamsa (Trident) oraz Davida Beckmanna (Van Amersfoort Racing) podczas ostatniej rundy.

Kalendarz wyścigów

Prowizoryczny kalendarz Formuły 2 na sezon 2022 został przedstawiony 15 października 2021. 3 marca wyścig na Sochi Autodrom został odwołany. 17 maja w jego miejsce wstawiono wyścig na Circuit Paul Ricard.

Zmiany w kalendarzu

Po zaledwie jednym sezonie powrócono do rozgrywania dwóch wyścigów w ciągu weekendu wyścigowego. Wyścigi sprinterskie nadal będą odbywać się w sobotę, natomiast wyścig główny – w niedzielę.
Tory Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari i Circuit Zandvoort zostały dodane do kalendarza. Od momentu drugiej reaktywacji, włoski tor po raz pierwszy będzie organizował wyścigi Formuły 2, natomiast na niderlandzkim obiekcie zmagania próbowano zorganizować w 2020 roku, jednak na przeszkodzie stanęła pandemia COVID-19.
Red Bull Ring, Hungaroring, Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya i Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps powrócą do kalendarza po rocznej przerwie.
