1. An informal verbal suffix conveying a promise to be upheld in the future.

   Synonym: (more formal, dated in South Korea) 마 (-ma)

   며칠 내로 꼭 갚을게요. ― Myeochil nae-ro kkok gapeulge-yo. ― I swear I'll pay back in a few days.

   열심히 공부할게요. ― Yeolsimhi gongbu-halge-yo. ― I promise to study hard.

• 을게 (-eulge) is only used in the "intimate" speech level or 해체 (haeche), and the "polite" speech level or 해요체 (haeyoche).
• In more formal speech, 겠 (-get-) is used promissively.
