Etymologia

  • Platypteryx: gr. πλατυς platus „szeroki”; πτερυξ pterux, πτερυγος pterugos „płat”. Gatunek typowy: Platypteryx perroteti A.M.C. Duméril, Bibron & A.H.A. Duméril, 1854.
  • Xylophis: gr. ξυλον xulon „drzewo, drewno”; οφις ophis, οφεως opheōs „wąż”.
