Zasięg występowania
Rodzina obejmuje gatunki występujące w Malezji (Sabah, Sarawak i Malezja Zachodnia) i Indonezji (Sumatra).

Etymologia
Xenophidion: gr. ξενος xenos „obcy, dziwny”; οφιδιον ophidion „wężyk, mały wąż”, zdrobnienie od οφις ophis, οφεως opheōs „wąż”.
