Etymologia
- Petrosaurus: gr. πετρα petra ‘skała’; σαυρος sauros ‘jaszczurka’.
- Streptosaurus: gr. στρεπτος streptos ‘obroża’, od στρεφω strephō ‘skręcić, przekręcić’; σαυρος sauros ‘jaszczurka’. Typ nomenklatoryczny: Uta mearnsi Stejneger, 1894.
