Uczestnicy

Zawodnicy rosyjscy wystąpili pod flagą European Athletics jako "autoryzowani lekkoatleci neutralni" (Authorised Neutral Athletes – ANA) z powodu zawieszenia Rosji za aferę dopingową.

Do zawodów zgłoszona była również jednoosobowa „reprezentacja uchodźców”, w barwach której wystartować miał pochodzący z Syrii Puok Thiep Gatkuoth. Zawodnik ten znajdował się na oficjalnej liście zgłoszeń do biegu maratońskiego opublikowanej przez European Athletics przed mistrzostwami, jednak ostatecznie nie stanął na starcie tych zmagań, a jego nazwisko nie pojawiło się w oficjalnych wynikach tej konkurencji.
