Metropolia (stgr. μητρόπολις metrópolis „miasto macierzyste, stolica”, od μήτηρ méter „matka” + πόλις pólis „miasto”) – ojczyzna lub centralne terytorium imperium kolonialnego. Termin ten był używany w zakresie imperiów brytyjskiego, francuskiego i portugalskiego do oznaczania ich europejskich terytoriów, w odróżnieniu od terytoriów kolonialnych lub zamorskich.
