Nazwa naukowa tego gatunku skorupiaków została opublikowana w 1966 roku przez kanadyjskiego parazytologa polskiego pochodzenia Zbigniewa Kabatę i radzieckiego parazytologa-helmintologa Alexandra Władimirowicza Gusiewa. Gatunek został ujęty w Catalogue of Life.
