Etymologia
- Boulengerula: George Albert Boulenger (1858–1937), brytyjski zoolog belgijskiego pochodzenia.
- Afrocaecilia: łac. Afer, Afra „Afrykanin, afrykański”, od Africa „Afryka”; rodzaj Caecilia Linnaeus, 1758. Gatunek typowy: Boulengerula taitanus Loveridge, 1935.
