Etymologia
Nazwa rodzajowa jest połączeniem słów z języka greckiego: αραχνης arakhnēs – „pająk” oraz -θηρας -thēras – „łowca” (θηραω thēraō – „polować” (θηρ thēr, θηρος thēros – „bestia, zwierzę”)).
