Etymologia
- Grammatophora: gr. γραμμα gramma, γραμματος grammatos „linia”, od γραφω graphō „pisać”; -φορος -phoros „noszący”, od φερω pherō „nosić”. Nomen oblitum.
- Amphibolurus: gr. αμφίβολος amphibolos „dwuznaczny, obustronny”; ουρα oura „ogon”. Nazwa zastępcza dla Grammatophora Kaup, 1827.
