Systematyka

Etymologia

Amandava: epitet gatunkowy Fringilla amandava Linnaeus, 1758. Zlatynizowana forma amandava pochodzi od nazwy miasta Ahmadabad w stanie Gudźarat w Indiach, skąd przywieziono w klatkach pierwsze okazy bengalika czerwonego.
