Etymology

Short for mısır buğdayı (Ottoman Turkish مصر بوغدایی‎, مصر بغدایی‎), or dialectally also mısır darısı (Ottoman Turkish مصر داریسی‎), so like in European languages it was called "Turkish corn", it was called “Egyptian corn” in Turkey.
