1. (Cantonese, derogatory) Mandarin-speaking Northerners

     In his article "On Eating Raw Garlic", he said that when he just arrived in the south, he always heard his neighbour's children singing a nursery rhyme behind his back: "Northerners, northerners, they don't eat green onions!"
