Inherited from Proto-Turkic *ok (“arrow”); cognate with Old Turkic 𐰸 (ok), Azerbaijani ox, Bashkir уҡ (uq), Chuvash ухӑ (uh̬ă), Kazakh оқ (oq), Kyrgyz: ок (ok), Turkmen ok, Uyghur ئوق (oq) and Uzbek oʻq.
