Etymology

Probably analogical to nominative ես (es).

իս • (is)

  1. accusative singular of ես (es)
    ըստ իս ― əst is ― in my opinion
    դառն հազ կալաւ զիս ― daṙn haz kalaw zis ― I caught a violent cough
    մի՛ մոռանար զիս ― mí moṙanar zis ― don't forget me
    հիւանդ էի եւ տեսէք զիս ― hiwand ēi ew tesēkʻ zis ― I was sick, and you visited me
    եթէ սիրէք զիս ― etʻē sirēkʻ zis ― if you love me
    յիս տէր ― yis tēr ― (interjection) oh my lord! I pray you my lord! tell me my lord!
    յիս դարձ տէր ― yis darj tēr ― oh king hear us!
  2. locative singular of ես (es)
    յոյս եւս շիջեալ էր յիս ― yoys ews šiǰeal ēr yis ― hope died within me
    ոչ գոյ յիս կերակրոյ ― očʻ goy yis kerakroy ― I have a weak digestion
    ոչ եմ ինձ եւ յիս ― očʻ em inj ew yis ― I am beside myself, distracted, I am not master of my self-possession, I am driven mad
