Seit der Opiumanbau konsequent bekämpft wird, wurden mit Förderung von Regierung und Königshaus andere Anbauformen durchgesetzt. Um Santikhiri ist dies vor allem Tee. Diesen kann man vor Ort auch probieren und kaufen.
