Bundesautobahn 24

Die Bundesautobahn 24 (BAB 24 oder A 24) ist ein Teil der Europastraße 26 und ab der Einmündung der Bundesautobahn 19 der Europastraße 55. Sie verbindet die Freie und Hansestadt Hamburg mit dem Berliner Ring, der ringförmig um Berlin angelegten Bundesautobahn 10. In ihrem östlichen Teil verbindet sie auch Berlin mit Rostock mit einer anschließenden Fährverbindung nach Gedser in Dänemark. Die Gesamtlänge der Autobahn beträgt 237 km.

Hintergrund

Als Teil des Europastraßen-Grundnetzes hat die seit den 1930er Jahren projektierte, aber erst 1982 (damals noch als Transitautobahn durch die DDR) auf ganzer Länge fertiggestellte Autobahn überregionale Bedeutung.
